Classroom:Jean-Michel carries a 3.70 cumulative GPA while majoring in computer science. He has earned conference all-academic accolades each season (2005, 2006, 2007) at Georgia State. He has also been named to the Dean's List (minimum 3.5 GPA) five times (Fall 2004, Spring 2005, Spring 2006, Fall 2006 and Spring 2007). Additionally, Jean-Michel has garnered CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-District II All-Academic honors in 2006 and 2007, making him eligible to be recognized as an Academic All-American.
Character:Jean-Michel's character is unsurpassed. He preaches teamwork to all the younger players and works with them on a regular basis to make them better, and ultimately improving the team. A native of Longueuil, Quebec, Jean-Michel had to adjust to a new culture when he moved from metropolitan Montreal to Atlanta to further his athletic and academic career, but he has done so flawlessly and actively participates on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Competition:Jean-Michel led the team in batting during his freshman (.327) and sophomore (.330) seasons, and finished third on the team as a junior (.341). He ranks in the top 10 in six career categories (batting average, hits, triples, runs scored, stolen bases and hit by pitches). He will also break into the top 10 in 7 other categories (games played, at bats, total bases, RBIs, bases on balls, sacrifice hits and sacrifice flies) this season.
This spring, Jean-Michel will be the Panthers' starting second baseman and hit second in the lineup. He is expected to provide the team with a solid presence at the plate and in the field, where he leads by example.
